Sheppey United boss Kevin Hake insists there is everything still to play for.

His team were knocked out of the Kent Invicta Challenge Trophy by Bearsted at the semi-final stage last weekend and are 11 points adrift of league leaders Lydd Town.

They face a trip to an improving Glebe side this Saturday and Hake hopes his squad can recapture some of the form that has led them to challenge the league’s best.

“There is still a hell of a lot to play for,” said Hake. “It’s a six-team fight at the top and it will be really interesting to see who ends up where between sixth and second and it could still even be first if Hollands & Blair slip up.

“We are out of the cup, but we are not out of the league. It would have been nice to be in the final of a cup competition but it’s not to be.”

Bearsted won Saturday’s game 3-2 and that followed a draw with Seven Acre & Sidcup the week before in the league.

“The lads were down afterwards and some were looking at the ref for a lot of it but we can’t blame him,” said Hake.

“We’ve been back on the training ground. This is a project and we’re constantly looking to improve.”
