It comes after it was handed additional powers to deal with drivers across Sheppey and Sittingbourne last night.

It tweeted: "If you are going to drag race on the A249, Queenborough, best not do it with ... inspectors behind you. Court date pending.

"Officers have additional powers under section 34 to deal with drivers across Sheppey and Iwade tonight."

Section 34 means police can put a dispersal order in place, which gives them additional powers to tackle anti-social behaviour.

Elsewhere, officers also stopped a speeding Jaguar driver in Northfleet earlier this evening.

Police said the vehicle failed to stop when requested at around 5.30pm today and a motorist fled.

"He got away on foot through alleyways but several items have been recovered from the vehicle and we are awaiting a forensic exam so we shall see you soon," they said.

"The vehicle was on false plates and confirmed to have been stolen last month."
