Jewellery and cash stolen from Maple Avenue, Gillingham

Jewellery and cash were part of a haul stolen from a home.

The items were taken during a daylight break-in at a property in Maple Avenue, Gillingham.

The back door of the house was damaged before the items were stolen.

The incident happened on Wednesday, January 15, some time between 11.30am and 1.30pm.

Officers from the Chief Constable’s Crime Squad investigated and arrested William Cassidy on Wednesday.

The 41-year-old, of Chancel Drive, Wainscott, was charged with burglary and remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates' Court yesterday.

He was further remanded in custody and will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday, April 30.
