Help reunite Japan's 'Orlando Bloom' with long-lost neighbour Thelma

A Japanese TV show is hoping KentOnline readers can help find a former neighbour of one of the country's biggest stars.

Producers at the broadcaster NHK want to surprise an actor they describe as the nation's version of Kent's Orlando Bloom .

They are working on a series based on BBC's Who Do You Think You Are? which takes celebrities on a trip down memory lane.

It goes into their family history to give an idea of where they come from.

But in a departure from the UK format, in the Japanese show the subject doesn't know they are featuring until they're surprised.

The 43-year-old actor concerned has appeared in 15 films, 30 TV dramas and 20 theatre productions.

Show spokesman Yoko Oshima said although they couldn't name the star, he was in the Orlando Bloom fame bracket.

She told how in 1985/86 his family lived in North London next to a much-loved neighbour called Thelma.

His father was a professor of history of architecture and was on sabbatical in the UK at the time.

Yoko said: "Thelma was a close neighbour to the family. As we could trace the photo of her, it would be interesting to hear her memory of the family."

Not much more is known about her, apart from the fact she moved somewhere in Kent in 1988.

Before that she lived in Elmstead Avenue, Wembley, and would likely be in her late 80s or 90s now.
