A man has died after falling into the sea at Seasalter.

Herne Bay Coastguard, police, ambulance and air ambulance, were called to Seasalter Sailing Club at about 3.30pm on Saturday after being told a man needed medical treatment and was in a life-threatening condition.

The sailor, believed to be in his 40s, was taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford where he was confirmed dead.

It is believed that the man, who is said to be from east Kent, fell into the sea while sailing and was pulled out by other sailors.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed.
