Woodland search in Hawkinge near Folkestone after sighting of 'man with weapon'

Police have searched a village woodland following reports of a man carrying a weapon.

Officers descended on Reinden Wood in Hawkinge near Folkestone this afternoon.

The incident was reported at 3.55pm sparking teams to scour the area.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Officers carried out a search of the area and no one matching the man's description was located.”

Police also confirmed that the search is not currently being linked to the ongoing search for escaped terror suspect Daniel Khalife.
