Crash prompts A20 closure near M20 junction 11 in Newingreen, Hythe

A major route was closed in both directions and a man is in hospital following a crash between a lorry and van.

The collision happened at about 8.40am this morning on the A20 in Newingreen near Hythe.

Both lanes of the busy road were blocked.

Emergency services were on the scene and a man was taken to a local hospital.

Traffic specialists Inrix reported queueing traffic in the area with heavy congestion.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at around 9.15am today to a report of a collision involving a lorry and a van on the A20, near to the junction with Stone Street, Westenhanger, Folkestone.

“Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and a man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

“The road remained closed while crews responded to the incident.”
